1.) Heals dry hands - Nurses perspective
Reviewed by: Geekasaurus Rex Rochester, New York

As a nurse I wash my hands several hundred times a day it seems. Even with the hospitals using moisturizing soaps my skin gets very dry. I bought this little jug and take it to work with me. It is amazing how well it can moisturize my VERY dry hands. In the winter I get cracks on the outside of my palms, without fail every year. I take this cream and let it sit on the crack for as long as I can. By the next day or so the crack has healed enough to be more manageable.

Several patients have this cream prescribed to them by their doctors its so good.

I highly recommend this cream to everyone that suffers from dry, cracked skin!

Thank you for reading my review.

2.) Goes on a little greasy but works like a charm!

I purchased this ointment based on a recommendation by my son's pediatrician. My son suffers from severe eczema and nothing we were using on him was helping. We have to be very careful with what we use on his skin because anything can make his condition flare up. The pediatrician recommended we use the Aquaphor ointment on him at least two times a day, and especially after his bath. She also said it is important to apply it within minutes after patting him dry from his bath before the skin has a chance to 'dry out'.

This is the only product that has helped his skin condition. If we use it on him twice a day his eczema is nearly non-existent. It has worked so well on him that I started using it after I shower and it has made a tremendous difference in my skin. I don't have eczema but in the winter I end up with severe dry skin and this is the only moisturizer that made a difference.

The only downside to this ointment is that it goes on greasy and can take a few minutes for the greasiness to soak in. I prefer not to put on any good clothes right away in case some of the grease transfers to my clothes before it soaks into my skin. If there is a greasy spot or two on the clothing then using powder on the spots helps to get it out (let the powder sit on the greasy spot for a few minutes or more so it soaks up the oils, then brush the powder away). Even though it goes on greasy I decided to give it 5 stars because it is an 'ointment' rather than a 'moisturizer,' and it does what it is supposed to better than any other product we have tried.

I bought it for baby son who has been diagnosed with eczema. My doctor recommended this ointment to apply to the affected area. The redness and dryness in that area subsided after 4 applications (once after the day bath and once after the night bath). I'm still hoping that there will be fuller recovery but it has done a good job already.

5.) same great aquaphor

as far as i can tell, there is no difference between the "baby" and regular versions of aquaphor. their website does not mention any difference, and i have not observed any differences in the last month of use. but, for some reason, the baby version is often less expensive (this is also true at retailers - and check the baby aisle for the even less expensive target brand). i have been using aquaphor, mixed with Eucerin Lotion, Intensive Repair, 16.9-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2), twice a day on my daughter for the last two years, and it has really helped to keep her eczema at bay. i find it too greasy to use alone, but it is great mixed with another lotion. also makes a great lip balm!

7.) One of the Best Ointments to Use on Tattoo Art When Healing
Reviewed by: Kitty Ky

I have two tattoos. Got them in two different parlors, two different times, two different states, similar location on the anatomy. First time I was religious about insuring my art not dry out, as I have fair sensitive skin already, and used the ointment the artist recommended which was this stuff (but in a tube). It was fantastic. Like any ointment, it's thick and viscus but once applied stayed put and conditioned the skin well. Anyone who's ever had ink done knows that you go through an irritated stage where the tattoo is healing and there can be discomfort or itchiness involved. This soothed it and healed like a dream. The second artist I went to commented on how well the first one had healed in such little time and asked what I used. As far as I know, he recommends this to his clients.

13.) best solution from diaper rash
Reviewed by: pantherra Tampa, FL
Rating:
When my son was 4 month old he had his first diaper rash. His skin was horribly red and itchy. I tried Desitin and Butt paste but they didn't help, even made the condition worse by drying out the skin. We switched from Pampers to Huggies, still no sense. Airing also didn't help much, because he peed every 15 min., and I had to wash his groin again (I didn't use soap, just water). Finally we went to our ped who recommended us using aquaphor, he gave us small samples. Actually I doubted that it would make better. Having read its ingredients I thought it was more for preventing than treating. But as I was desperate I gave it a try, and in 3 days his skin came to normal. No irritation or redness.
Now I use it before putting my son to bed because I don't change his diaper at night, and also when I see some red spots. It acts as a good protection.
It also works for mommy... As I'm breastfeeding I experience dryness of my skin. Especially had awful deep cracks on my feet which were pretty painful (I never had them before). So aquaphor helped. I also put some on my lips instead of lip balm when they were dry. It moisturizes perfectly.
Will definitely recommend it to all parents!

I love this product. I have used it for me to prevent dry, chapped lips, but never thought about using it for my baby. 2 weeks after we brought our daughter home, she developed a wicked diaper rash. We used Aveeno diaper rash cream and that seemed to clear it up a bit, but it was back in 3 days. We stopped using wipes and just used a washcloth with water to clear her. Still never cleared up. I saw from some message boards that Aquaphor really worked for a lot of people. We tried that, and it cleared up in 1 day!!!! She is now 14 weeks old and we haven't seen a diaper rash since. It is pricey, so I suggest buying it the large tub or the 3 packs from amazon. The large tub lasted us from October until New Year with probably another week left. It also helped clear up her baby acne and rash on her neck. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!!

I have a 2 year old son and he has been suffering from eczema since birth. He had the eczema patches on his face, and it didn't look good. So a friend of mine told me about this product, and of course I was skeptical like I've pretty much tried a lot of over the counter products, this isn't going to work. I'll have to say within a month of using this product the patches on his face has disappeared and his skin has blended and healed well. He also has eczema on other parts of his body. So for those who struggles to keep it under control, I recommend that you buy Seacrets Dead Sea Minerals Salt & Oil Scrub and then after a bath apply the aquaphor. These 2 products together made a big difference in my son's skin condition for his eczema is completely gone and under control. No more waking up in the middle of the night because he's scratching it. I definitely give this prodcuts 2 thumbs up!!!!!!!!

He had dry, rough skin on his legs and arms and excema on the back. This took care of it all!Not a sign of what the poor boy went thru. Also helps with diaper rash. I cover his bottom with this and then use powder for the night time diapers. I still use oatmeal in his bath and dont bath but every 3 days. This to helps with the problem. Best stuff on the market as far as I am concerned.

This stuff is THE CURE for baby acne. My 3 month old had severe blotches of acne/peeling on both cheeks and everyone kept saying it'll go away on it's own. This is true in most cases, but as it got worse each day, it bothered me to see it. His pediatrician recommended Baby Aquaphor and ALL of the acne literally cleared up in THREE DAYS and never came back with regular use of the ointment. Since then, I have recommended it to several people for the same problem and everyone has thanked me after seeing the results. Regardless of that, it's a great moisturizer (for babies and adults) and diaper rash ointment so I highly recommend this product for general use as well.

Such a wonderful product! Aquaphor has come to the rescue for me in so many different occasions!

My toddler has eczema and after going through tons of prescription creams and ointments, my friend told me about Aquaphor. I used it on her several times during the day and the severe eczema dried up within 48 hours! I was so excited to finally find an end to my child's misery. Now my daughter asks me to put her "special lotion" on every day just so that she can prevent it from coming back.

I fell further in love with the product when my newborn's face broke out with "hormone pimples". The pediatrician told me it was normal and that her face would clear up in 3-4 months. I was saddened to see my baby's face look like that of a teenager, so I tried the Aquaphor again. The Aquaphor began clearing my baby's face almost immediately. Within a few hours, the "pimples" looked like they were drying up, and three days later my baby's face was as smooth as her bottom!

I've also used it on my own chapped skin, including those times where I've rubbed my nose raw from too much sneezing. It healed my chapped skin beautifully. I've given a sample tube to my cousin who has severe road rash burns on her entire body from an accident and she says she sees it helping her healing process come along much quicker. It's even helped ease the pain for my uncle whos skin is peeling due to cancer treatments.

Since I've procured little sample bottles here and there and have purchased several tubes, I keep Aquaphor on me at all times. I've given away a bunch of my tubes! When a fellow mom tells me of their child's diaper woes, rashes or eczema, I take out my Aquaphor and give it to them. I've received tons of Thank Yous from others and they now carry Aquaphor everywhere too!

25.) Excellent for Eczema due to allergies in children

My son had food allegies and eczema since he was one month old. Now he is 4 yrs old. Due to this he gets very severe itching sensation and at times he can scratch so much that he would cut himself. I used to use Vaselline earlier but it would not heal quickly. So once I tried this one and it has done wonders. The wounds do heal with this one and it also keeps his skin moist and soft for longer so he does not get the itching sensation. Doctors are amazed that I do not use any cortisone cream and his skin is still in good condition. All I do is cut his nails carefully every week and apply Aquaphor ointment 3-4 times daily all over the body. I would highly recommend this.

I had terrible peeling feet and cracked heels, and iching feet.

I have been using this product for a month now and very pleased, the peeling part is not that bad now and no cracked heels and my feet feel much better and much more smoother now and the inching has stopped almost completely.

Will be getting more later, especially at Amazon price, since it is cheaper, but it is worth the high price that I got in the local drug store, anyway!

Our 14 mo old son has very dry skin. We live in Minnesota and winter is very bad for baby skin. We bought a 3-pack from Amazon, good deal!, and his skin immediately got a lot better. I would highly recommend it to parents with dry-skinned baby.
One concern I hope Aquaphor would improve is the container. As we can see from the picture, the bottle/container has two "sharp" edges. My son was playing with the bottle the other day. He waved the bottle and made a pretty big scratch on my face. I wish Aquaphor could round up the edges.

31.) Found something better for eczema
Reviewed by: Lisa Illinois
Rating:
My daughter has battled eczema since 3 months old. We started with Aquaphor, then tried almost every "natural/organic" product under the sun, then found out she had a nut/peanut allergy and had to avoid nut/seed oils in skin products--used prescription steroids to control severe outbreaks, and settled with using prescription Mimyx twice a day with Aquaphor layered on top--this was the most effective, but we were going through a large Aquaphor container from Costco ($12.75) and a tube of Mimyx ($40.00 co-pay) each month. Then... my husband said he heard about this lotion called Renew from Melaleuca--that it is supposed to be very effective on eczema, we ordered for the first time last month, have been applying it twice daily on my daughter's arms/legs and her skin has NEVER in her entire life looked better. And it's much less money--I haven't figured out yet exactly how much we will go through each month, but I'm estimating around a total of $20.00 versus the $52.75 we were spending previously. The catch with Melaleuca is that if you want to receive the member price, you pay a $29.00 one time membership fee then have to buy a monthly quota usually about $60.00 worth of household/beauty products. We are going to order several travel size tubes this next month and pass them on to the several families we know battling eczema and see if it helps--what I would do if you aren't sure about committing to a monthly order is buy a bottle at the non-member price and try it. It's no more cost than a tub of Aquaphor. This will be the first summer that my daughter can go outside without long sleeves and long pants on. It's definitely worth a try.

32.) Feel good product
Reviewed by: Lucy San Jose, California
Rating:
Not sure if I was biased or uninformed, but all I can say is I was told to use Aquaphor on my two year old son as early as when he was before one, for his skin condition- diagnosed as "Atopic Dermatitis"-that he was born with. A good friend of mine also recommended it strongly as if it was the only miracle product out in the market to cure my boy's very persistent and down right agonizing problem. As soon as we think we have the problem under controlled, it soon rears its ugly head again at us and came back more forcefully than ever. Of course, we consulted number of other specialists, such as dermatologists besides my pediatrician and used products such as baby oil with aloe, Cetaphil, CeraVe, triamcinolone and one other doctor prescribed cortisone product. By now, we are at wit's end and for sure, we have ALWAYS used Aquaphor in the mix, but the condition wax and wane as it deems pleased. Finally my husband, who was very much of a chemical compound buff-at least more so than I am-looked at the ingredient and noticed Petroleum as the main active ingredient. Maybe he was even correct to think that petroleum, although might provide good skin barrier, does not ultimately treat or cure one's skin condition. It probably just allows the skin time to heal itself through its applications. So, all in all, it might be a good adjunctive product but definitely not worth the hype or even the price tag.
