1.) The best self tanner that I have found...

I have used at least a dozen different self tanners including lotions, sprays, and foams - both grocery store and department store brands. This is easily my favorite. It provides a gradual, natural, BROWN tan (not orange or fake looking). It is very easy to use, doesn't streak, and doesn't smell bad as many others do. I actually started using it while on vacation and I really thought that I had a natural tan (which I try to avoid, being over 30 and fair skinned), but after continuing to use it when I returned, I realized that it was the product. As I am posting this review, I am replenishing my supply and I hope that Coppertone will continue to produce this product!

I love this product! This is my second order of it. You apply and forget it. Great color, you can even skip a day or two if needed. It smell pretty good not like other stinky tanners. Doesnt wash off or bleed onto clothes. Fades very well and evenly. The color is a nice coppery color not orangy or lizzard like. Definently fool-proof!

After reading the other reviews on this site as well as a few others I decided to try this product. I used a homemade exfoliater in the shower (baby oil mixed with sugar) and then put this on with some latex gloves. I am so happy I tried this. I am very pale to begin with so streaking is a big problem with most tanners...not this one. There was no darker areas around my ankles and knees. The color was brown, not orange. And no streaking. It was very easy to apply and I love the fact that I can build on the tan instead of jumping from translucent to over baked! I am finally happy with a self tanner...and the price ain't bad either!

I am a first timer with self tanning lotions and was a little afraid of trying any out. I have heard horror stories about all self tanning lotions and sprays. This one proved to be very easy to use and the color is natural. I don't have streaks and I don't turn orange. I even find the smell to be pleasant. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good self tanner.

I'm not very good at applying sunless tanner, but this stuff looks really flawless on me! It hasn't streaked, and doesn't change my color so drastically that I can't easily cover a spot I missed. It smells a little funky, but it's not a big enough issue for me to not use it. I've never turned orange from using this tanner.

I love this stuff and have an extra two containers in my linen closet. I am restricted from tanning in the sun anymore and hear much negative reports on tanning salons. I've been doing sunless tanning for years now - and have been disappointed most of the time. Here comes a product that suits me. I goes on smooth, doesn't appear to leave streaks if you're careful, and has a a brown tint to it rather than that orangey/bronze that I hate. It has an acceptable - not obnoxious - smell to it. I recommend.

I am going on a cruise in a week after a long cold Midwest winter. When I tried on shorts and dresses for the cruise, my legs looked terribly white and ugly. I read the reviews on Amazon for all sunless tanning products and when I went to my local Ulta Store all they carried was the Coppertone. The price was right and I remember the ratings here on Amazon were good, so I bought it. I used it twice a day for three days and my legs look like I have been in the Florida Sun for a week! I will now cut back to once a day to keep up the tan before I leave for the cruise. The smell of this product is good, not a problem. I used it in the morning in place of my regular moisture lotion on my legs. Highly Recommended!! I Can't Stop Looking at My Legs !
16.) Good, but not perfect
Reviewed by: C. Vincent Rochester, NY

I've tried MANY different sunless tanning products and can say that this is definitely the best I have tried. It is the only one I feel comfortable using consistently. I have very fair skin, and it gives a natural looking brown color (not yellow, not orange) after a few applications. It goes on fairly lightly, so it's very forgiving and doesn't streak, but you need to use it often to get a deep color. It smells pretty strong at first, but it's not a completely repulsive smell like some other tanners, and it seems to go away much quicker too.
The only reason I gave this a 4 star rating instead of 5 is because, even though it's the best I've found, it's still not without flaws (why can't I find the perfect tanner??). First, as I stated before, it does smell. Not too bad, but I wish I could find a tanner that doesn't smell at all and has a decent color. Second, the color doesn't last very long. If I want to keep up the color, I find myself going through bottles very quickly. Finally, and most importantly, it does stain. It is not nearly as bad as some of the other tanners, but white clothes and bed sheets will turn a faint brown color. I haven't been able to wash it out either. For this reason, it's extremely important to let it dry completely before coming in contact with white clothes or bed sheets (it takes about 30-45 min to dry completely for me). If it weren't for these flaws, this would be the perfect tanner, but for now, the color it gives and the ease of application outweigh the negative aspects. It's definitely better than anything else I have found so far.
17.) Natural Tan Look

I don't usually use sunless tanning products since the ones I've tried in the past always turned an orange color. I was really skeptical at first, but based on the reviews on this and other sites, I decided to try it. This product definitely makes you look tan. I don't usually get a deep tan when going to tanning salons, so I tried this in addition to tanning to get a deeper looking tan (prior to going to Hawaii). I was very pleased that it definitely gives you a natural looking tan. The smell was a little different at first, but I've gotten so used to it that I really like it now. You do have to make sure you spread the lotion evenly, otherwise you'll see lines. And I disagree with one of the reviews that said it doesn't get on your clothes...maybe if you wear black or brown, then you can't tell the color came off. But, when I wore some white lounge pants, a white tank and even when I wear my white bra, the color does come off some. It doesn't stop me from wearing the product, but it is kind of annoying (and it DOES wash out). I will buy again.
18.) Good enough

This is my first self-tanning product, and it was a pleasant experience for me. Here are some of my mistakes. I foolishly and mistakenly put on this self-tanner the day I went to a Theme Park, and we when on a water ride, and everyone got super soaked. My self-tanner "leaked" off my skin, and went onto my white shoes. Now my white shoes are stained with self-tanner, and they are currently brown. I will never do that mistake again. Also, if you are going to wear this self-tanner and wear white clothing, make sure you will keep "dry". Also, the smell isn't TOO bad, but I find that if it's a hot day and you start sweating a bit, you'll smell the tanner.
This product didn't turn my skin "orange" like I have read in reviews for other self-tanning products. It didn't turn me TOO dark, but dark enough for some people to ask "did you get darker?". I really recommend trying this product if you are careful (white clothing, etc.) I usually ex foliated my skin in the shower, came out, put on the self-tanner, then walked around nude in my room waiting for it to dry off a bit before putting on my clothes. Once again, if you're not wearing white or doing any water-activities for the day, this shouldn't be an issue. Hope this helps! Message me for more information :)

It is easy to get an even looking tan with this as it tans very gradually. This does mean you will have to apply several times to get, then every 3 or 4 days to maintain, a modest tan. Fairly good color, and smell is not as bad as some I've tried. I use it instead of moisturizing lotion every 4th morning. It does seem to moisturize as well as my normal lotion.

This is the first sunless tanning lotion i've ever tried so i wasn't sure what to expect. For the past couple years I haven't really been out in the sun long enough to get a tan, i fear that crazy skin cancer thing. This tanning lotion seems to work fairly quickly, i noticed a difference in my skin tone the next day. It does exactly what it advertises so i am pleased. The more often you use it, the darker you become. It doesn't look orange to me, but maybe im in denial about it and i actually look like an oversized carrot, regardless i like the color difference. I am no longer referred to as the pasty white porcelain guy at work so im happy. My only gripe about this product is that when i apply it to my face i have to be really careful around my amish looking beard i have. If im not careful, i can apply too much around my beard line and it leaves this orange looking line between my hair line. The scent is not too overpowering, i mean its doesn't really smell wonderful but its not a bad smell either, its neutral. Overall, im impressed with this product and its fairly cheap considering you get 2 bottles. Give it pump or two, you won't be disappointed.

After reading the directions, I really expected it to be a few days before I noticed any color on my glow in the dark legs. Next day, truly I saw a HUGE difference. It wasn't as great as I expected, and not as "brown" as I'd hoped but not quite orangey either. Its a good product and fades quite quickly if you mess up and get too much on your knees. That's also a bit of complaint, I don't want to have to apply so often to keep the color. Overall, I'd recommend over a sun-tan and melanoma anyday! hah!

This product is just okay. I've tried other products (Vaseline) that are much better. This does cause you to turn a bit orange. And you have to rub it in because anything that sets for awhile does turn orange. I didn't rub it into the tops of my feet too well and ended up having orange marks on them. I'm going back to the Vaseline line.

I have really been surprised at the great reviews this moisturizer gets on many sites I've been on. Usually when I see a product that has gotten great reviews and only a few whiners and complainers, I assume that the product is probably pretty good and that the complainers are just difficult people. Well, I'm not a difficult person, but it's possible I have difficult skin because I did not like the color that Coppertone's Gradual Tan gave me at all. It definitely turned me orange. I have no other complaints about it. In fact, I like everything else about it. I like the smell, the easy application, the price and how it moisturized my skin. The most important part though, the color, was no good at all. Keep in mind that I have very fair skin that does not tan well in the sun. I have used other sunless tanners before and have been satisfied with the color, but I did not like the smell with one of them and I broke out in hives with yet another one which is why I decided to give Coppertone a shot. The color looks like it came from a bottle after only one application. I will be returning this product.

I bought this in a 2 pack, and I've only used half of the first bottle. My first time using this stuff turned me completely and utterly orange, and I haven't used it since then.

But anyways, I cannot recommend this product.
29.) "Odorific"

I recently purchased the 2-pack promotion of this product. I was seeking a gradual sun tan. I hadn't been on any trips to tropical locations and summer had long been over so I didn't want to show up at work the next day with a sudden inexplicable facial tan. Fortunately I first tried the cautious approach and swathed a test smear of the magic substance on the back of my hand. The first sensation I experienced was the toxically sweet odor that would certainly make me identifiable as a member of the suntan lotion cult if I were to apply it liberally. And the odor does not abate after a few hours, its there for many days like red marker dye from stolen bank money. The next morning I noticed a swatch of discoloration on my hand where I had applied the product. It wasn't the natural skin tan you develop in the sun but rather it was kind of an orangish brown. And it doesn't wash off. If you experience an "omigod" the next morning looking in the bathroom mirror there's no "undo" function. I didn't want the hassle of returning the product so it is now a permanent detainee in a dark corner under my bathroom sink.

I'm a fair skinned person. I try to avoid dying from cancer if at all possible so I avoid the death beds... errr... tanning beds. I figured, "Hey, let me get one of those fake looking brown tans that all the sexy movie stars have." The operable word there is BROWN. Not YELLOW! PS- I followed the directions. It's not rocket science. For those of you who think you're getting a good tan, step outside into the sunlight and bring a mirror with you. Then let us know if you still like your color.
Bottom line- if you have the urgent need to be yellow for some reason or if you hate the look of that non-yellow shirt that you're wearing, this product is most certainly for you.

This stuff makes your skin look rather unnatural, pretty obvious that you've used a bottled tanning lotion with this product.
The colour tone that this product gives you is hideous!
The only thing going for it is that it does not smell bad.
However. I would rather use a tanner with a bad smell that turns me BROWN instead of a non smelly one that makes me ORANGE.
